CAT 2017 was conducted on last Sunday that is on 26th November in two slots. India’s Top Management Entrance, CAT 2017 was held across India in 142 cities.
As per the pattern, there were three sections VARC (Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Ability with 100 number questions allowing time duration of 3 hours.
The experts of ApnaMBA says Quantitative Ability was easiest as compared to VARC (Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension) and DI & Logical Reasoning section was toughest part in CAT 2017 Entrance.
The first slot exam level was more difficult and time taking than second slot exam. So, it is very difficult to predict the exact cut-off for CAT 2017.
Out of 100 questions, 34 questions were from QA Section, 34 Questions were from VARC and rest 32 Questions were from DI & Logical Reasoning. Now let’s check from individual sections how many average attempt questions can help an aspirant to crack CAT entrance.

In Reading Comprehension, the questions were from Technology, Social Science, History and Geography. Apart from that, there were 3 questions to find Odd One Out, 4 questions were from Para-Jumbles and 3 questions were from paragraph summary.
Level: Easy to Moderate
Attempt: 25-28
As mentioned, DI & Logical Reasoning section was the toughest section. In this section, 8-10 Analytical Puzzle, 8-10 data based puzzle and rest 8 sets caselets from DI section. All the caselets questions were from analytical ability and reasoning. Since this section was focusing on bar graph which was found quite a time taking.
And in Logical Reasoning, questions were from seating arrangement, puzzles and data calculation. In the second slot, the logical reasoning was easier than the first slot.

Attempt: 15-18
QA was the easiest section having 16-17 questions covering questions from Geometry, Arithmetic, Number System, Functions & Graphs, Progression and Permutation-Combination.
Level: Easy to Moderate
Attempt: 20-25
Since the cut-off of CAT 2017 is going to depend on various factors like the level of difficulty, Number of aspirants taking the exam, number of seats in B-Schools and many more.
But as per experts, CAT 2017 slot 1 cut-off is expected to go high as compared to last year because of difficulty level is low than last year. If any aspirant is attempting 75-80 Questions with 90% accuracy than, chances get higher of getting good percentile in CAT Entrance and take admission in dream B-School.
