2019 XAT Exam Pattern Changed: Get the Updates

 

 

Xavier Aptitude Test is the second largest nationalised management entrance exam after CAT. For many MBA Aspirants, XAT is the entry to numerous top B- schools in India including XIMB, IMI, SPJIMR, IMT among others.

The Registration and Application for XAT 2019 have started on 20th August and will close on 30th November 2018. XAT 2019 will be held on 6th January 2019. Previously XAT used to be conducted for three and a half hours, and it also included Essay Writing Test.

However, MBA Aspirants should be aware that XLRI has changed the exam pattern as well as duration. The test is projected to be conducted in 47 cities across India.

MBA Aspirants must have a recognized bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Moreover, those completing their final year of graduation by June 10, 2019 may also apply for XAT 2019. Read the full article to know the changes in the exam pattern of XAT 2019.

Exam sections: XAT is divided into 4 major sections including Decision Making, Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation, Verbal & Logical Ability, and General Knowledge.

This year Essay Writing has been removed from the exam pattern. Some MBA Aspirants will be excited with the news that XAT 2019 will now have only MCQs, while some will also miss the Essay writing test. The first 3 sections with MCQs namely Verbal and Logical Ability, Decision Making, Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation will determine your merit. The rest 25 questions in the General Knowledge section is to be attempted in the last 10 minutes.

 Marking Scheme: Each question carries one mark i.e., the aspirants will get one mark for every right answer. But a negative mark of 0.25 or 1/4th of the total marks allotted to the question will be deducted for an incorrect answer.  Moreover, there will be negative marking for unattempted questions. The MBA Aspirants should also note that last year for more than 8 unattempted questions, there was a deduction of 0.05 marks per un-attempted question. It might change this year.

 

Exam fees: Moreover, it is expected that XAT 2019 Registration fee may increase to Rs. 1700/- and the test will be held as online computer based test.

Duration of Exam: This year, the exam would be conducted for 180 minutes instead of 3 and a half hours. XAT 2019 will have reduced time duration of 3 hours from 10 AM to 1 PM, in a single session and will be conducted without Essay Writing Test.

Mode of Exam: XAT 2019 will be conducted in online mode i.e. Computer Based. Each Aspirant will be assigned a computer monitor in which they will have to select the right option with the help of mouse. However, for calculations, rough sheets will also be provided.
