How to Apply for CAT Exam? - Step by Step Guide

 

The CAT 2019 registration has started from August 7, 2019 (Wednesday). The application process is completely online and there have been no changes in it. If you are applying for the first time, follow the step by step guide in order to ease your process.

The process of filling up the CAT application might take approximately around 30 minutes, but still, we would suggest keeping some buffer time in hand in order to avoid any kind of technical glitch and enter all your data accurately.

What are the materials required before enrolling for CAT Entrance Exam?

Before starting with the application process ensure that the following information and documents are available:

INFORMATION

1.         Check with the eligibility criteria for CAT Entrance Exam.

2.         A valid contact number and email address are required to know the updates.

DOCUMENTS

1.         Mark Sheets of 10th/12th/Degree/Diploma

2.         Applicant’s work experience documents, if any.

3.         Applicable Certificates to upload

4.         Scanned images of the applicant’s signature and passport size photograph. (Photograph should have a white background and should not be more than six months old.)

5.         Make a list of IIM programs to which you want to apply

How to fill CAT Entrance Exam Application Form?  Step by Step Guide.

 Follow each and every given below to register for CAT Entrance Exam ::

Step 1 - CAT Exam Registration

Firstly, candidates will have to go to the authorized website of CAT www.iimcat.ac.in. Then register for which you need to enter your name, DOB, Email address, country, and mobile number and then OTP will be generated for verifying your mobile number.

You will get the CAT login credentials through email with the subject line CAT 2019 Login Details. You will receive the same details as an SMS on the registered mobile number from the sender LM-IIMCAT.

Step 2 - Fill up the CAT Application Form

After the login, you will be pass on to the applicant's details page. On that, the applicant's personal information will be shown and next to it, a link ‘go to the application form’ will be shown, click on it for the further process 

A new page will be shown and it will have the following 6 units:  Personal Details

•           Academic Details

•           Work Experience, if any

•           Programs

•           Test City

•           Payment

Fields with '*' (asterisk) mark are compulsory to fill.

Personal Details

Under this section, enter the information regarding parents’/guardian’s name, full address, date of birth, gender, category, and nationality. After filling up the form, upload the scanned recent passport size photograph and signature. T

he photograph should be of 30 mm x 45 mm and a signature of 80 mm x 35 mm. The file size in both cases should not exceed 80 KB and should be in .jpg or .jpeg format.

Documents

NC-OBC/SC/ST and PWD/DA Certificate: Download the document from the CAT official site, enter the required info and confirm signatures from the proper authorities, self-attest, and scan as PDF document to upload.

Academics

Under this section, enter the aggregate percentage, total obtained marks, maximum marks, Board name, stream, subject and degree obtained in the following stages of academics.

•           SSC/10th Std/Equivalent Details

•           12th/Equivalent/Diploma Course Details

•           Bachelor Degree Details

•           Other Professional Degree Details

•           Master Degree Details if any

If you are in the final year of your Graduation, enter the current year and semester of education. Enter the marks percentage or equivalent CGPA obtained for the years or semesters completed to date.

Calculate the percentage of marks obtained in the first 3 years as per your University/Institute norms which is reflected the same as to Bachelor’s Degree. Enter the remaining 2 years percentage in the Master's Degree, if you are pursuing an integrated Master’s Degree.

Work Experience     

This section is applicable only for entrants with prior full-time work experience. Select the working area given in the list.  Select ‘Other’ in case if it doesn’t match your professional experience. Mention the experience in months.

Selection of IIM Programmes and Interview Cities

You may select any number of Programme Names in this section. Then, select the Interview City for an interview as per the cities in the respective drop-down list.

Note: Candidates applying for PGP/PGDM courses at the following IIMs are requested to select the same interview city for all the selections.

CAT Entrance Exam City Preference

Give the choice of four cities in order of preference for taking the CAT Entrance Exam. The conducting IIM will allocate the city and exam centre to you on the basis of centre and availability. You cannot choose the same city more than once.

Step 3 - Payment

The final step for CAT registration is the application fee payment which is Rs. 1900 for General Category and NC/OBC candidates and Rs. 950 for the SC/ST/PWD (Differently Abled) candidates.  Payment of application fee can be done using Credit card/Debit Card/Net banking and two new modes - Paytm and PayU have been added this year.

It is required to select the 'I Agree' checkbox in the Declaration section before you click the Submit and Pay button and proceed to the payment gateway. After the successful transaction of your payment, a message will be displayed on the screen stating ‘Your application form has submitted successfully’ along with the Payment Transaction ID.

Application Confirmation Email - A confirmation email from CAT Entrance Exam authorities would be sent to your registered Email ID after your application process is over.
